Safety Officer - Industrial Safety

Role Overview Reitzel India is looking for a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join their manufacturing facility in Kunigal, Karnataka. The selected candidate will be responsible for building a safe and compliant work environment for all employees, workers, contractors, and visitors. This role reports directly to the AGM of People and Culture and requires strong knowledge of industrial safety regulations and occupational health practices. Key Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in line with applicable laws and regulations - Conduct workplace hazard identification, risk assessments, and recommend appropriate preventive measures - Monitor and ensure compliance with industry-specific safety standards including the Factories Act and other Indian safety regulations - Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to identify root causes and execute corrective actions - Support emergency preparedness activities including evacuation drills and mock emergency exercises - Organize and conduct safety training programs and awareness campaigns for employees and workers - Implement and monitor permit-to-work systems for contractor and internal project activities - Lead Safety Committee meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives - Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and training activities - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed safety practices into day-to-day operations Required Qualifications - Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety or Occupational Health and Safety Management - 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment - Strong knowledge of safety audits, hazard identification, and risk assessment methodologies - Familiarity with the Factories Act and other relevant Indian statutory safety requirements - Knowledge of safety equipment such as PPE, fire extinguishers, lifelines, and hazardous material protection systems - Proficiency in MS Excel and strong documentation skills - Kannada language proficiency is mandatory - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Why Join Us Reitzel India offers a structured work environment where safety professionals can make a meaningful impact on employee well-being and operational excellence.
