Python Developer - Assistant Vice President

Role Overview Citi is looking for a skilled Python Developer at the Assistant Vice President level to join its Applications Development team in Chennai. This is an intermediate-to-senior level full-time role where you will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining advanced software applications in coordination with cross-functional technology teams. You will bring deep expertise in Python, full-stack development, and modern AI-assisted development tools to drive meaningful outcomes for the business. Key Responsibilities - Lead and contribute to feasibility studies, IT planning, risk technology assessments, and application development initiatives aligned with specific business needs - Monitor all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation - Analyze complex technical problems and evaluate business processes, system workflows, and industry standards to recommend effective solutions - Develop and recommend security measures during post-implementation reviews to ensure system integrity and functionality - Consult with business users, clients, and technology teams to recommend advanced programming solutions and resolve technical issues - Define and uphold operating standards and essential development procedures across the team - Mentor and guide junior analysts, serving as a subject matter expert for senior stakeholders - Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while proactively escalating and managing control issues with full transparency Required Qualifications - 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in software application development and systems analysis - Expert-level proficiency in Python and full-stack development including REST APIs and microservices architecture - Expert knowledge of LLM Frameworks and APIs along with Prompt Engineering - Advanced experience with GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor - Hands-on exposure to Devin.AI or Antigravity platforms - Strong understanding of Microservices and API Design principles - Familiarity with SonarQube for code quality and code review processes - Proficiency in JIRA and Agile project management methodologies - Proven track record of managing and delivering successful technology projects - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience - Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and operate with minimal direct supervision Why Join Us Citi offers a globally respected platform where technology professionals can work on high-impact systems that serve millions of clients worldwide.
