Proposal Engineer - Cooling Fans

As a Proposal Engineer specialising in Cooling Fans, you will be at the heart of the pre-sales and technical adaptation process, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, competitive, and technically sound proposals. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge industrial applications including data centre cooling, green steel, and energy recovery systems. Key Responsibilities - Review customer project specifications, datasheets, and bid documents to understand technical and commercial requirements - Prepare detailed cost estimations based on bills of materials and engineering drawings - Develop comprehensive techno-commercial proposals and respond to technical queries from clients - Localise mechanical designs to comply with applicable international and Indian standards including IS, BIS, IEC, ASME, EN, and ISO - Review global engineering drawings and adapt them for local manufacturing and sourcing needs - Identify and qualify local substitutes for imported components and raw materials without compromising performance or safety - Coordinate with engineering, procurement, vendor, and manufacturing teams for cost optimisation and component availability - Support vendor development activities including drawing approvals, QA plans, and compliance documentation - Conduct design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection suitable for local operating conditions - Prepare and maintain technical documentation including BOMs, deviation notes, and compliance matrices - Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering sessions - Support prototype development, testing, and performance validation for localised designs Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline - 3 to 8 years of experience in mechanical design, localization engineering, or product adaptation roles - Strong knowledge of rotating equipment such as cooling fans, motors, compressors, or cooling towers - Proficiency in CAD tools including AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks - Sound understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, machining, casting, and welding - Experience working with international standards including IS, BIS, IEC, ASME, EN, and ISO - Prior knowledge of fibre reinforced plastic or composite materials is an added advantage - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills - Attention to detail, cost consciousness, and effective technical communication Why Join Us Chart Industries is a pioneer in end-to-end industrial solutions with a presence across energy, healthcare, food, and clean technology sectors worldwide. - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent - 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or localization engineering - Knowledge of rotating equipment including cooling fans, motors, and industrial machinery - Experience with IS, BIS, IEC, ASME, EN, and ISO standards - Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks - Understanding of fabrication, machining, casting, and welding processes - Familiarity with vendor coordination and technical clarifications - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Knowledge of fibre reinforced plastic or composite materials preferred
