Job Description

Role Overview British Council is looking for a skilled and motivated People Advisor to join its HR Advisory and Operations team in Noida. In this role, you will serve as a trusted HR partner to hub and country leadership, delivering culturally sensitive and legally compliant guidance across all stages of the employee lifecycle. You will play a key part in coaching managers, resolving workplace conflicts early, and ensuring that People Function services are delivered consistently and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities - Advise and support managers across the full employee lifecycle to ensure a positive and consistent employee experience aligned with the Employee Value Proposition - Provide expert guidance on conduct, disciplinary matters, and dismissals while ensuring compliance with applicable policies, legislation, and collaboration with Employee Relations teams for high-risk situations - Support early and constructive resolution of workplace conflict and grievance handling to prevent escalation - Deliver evidence-based HR insights and procedural recommendations using analytical methods and multiple data sources - Assist in executing organisational restructures, redundancies, and consultations in line with policy and legal requirements - Consult with internal customers and stakeholders to understand business needs and align HR services accordingly - Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR practices and participate in the people workstream of corporate or regional change projects Required Qualifications - Demonstrable experience in a generalist or specialist HR Advisory role covering multiple countries or a large and complex single country - Proven track record of building strong relationships with senior business leadership and managing complex stakeholder groups - Working knowledge of employment and labour law, including social security and tax regulations for private sector organisations - Strong data literacy with the ability to use data to drive HR decisions and inform practice - Graduate degree required; a postgraduate HR qualification such as an MA, MSc, CIPD, or equivalent is desirable - Must hold the pre-existing legal right to work in India at the time of application Why Join Us British Council offers a collaborative and inclusive work environment where HR professionals can make a meaningful impact across a global organisation. Requirements

- Generalist or specialist HR Advisory experience across multiple countries or a large complex organisation - Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with senior leadership - Working knowledge of Indian employment law, labour law, social security, and tax regulations - Experience handling employee relations cases including grievances, disciplinary actions, and redundancies - Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyse HR data and deliver actionable insights - Graduate degree; HR qualification (MA, MSc, CIPD or equivalent) desirable - Legal right to work in India is mandatory
