Java Full Stack Developer

Role Overview Citi is looking for a talented and driven Java Full Stack Developer to become a key member of its technology team in Chennai. In this role, you will play a central part in designing, building, and maintaining Trade Finance applications using modern development practices and cloud-native technologies. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside developers, testers, and business stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications using Spring Boot and microservices architecture with Angular or React on the front end - Build and integrate RESTful APIs with multiple backend systems to ensure seamless data flow - Work with both Oracle relational databases and MongoDB NoSQL databases while maintaining data integrity and optimal performance - Containerise and deploy applications using Docker on cloud platforms such as OpenShift, AWS, Azure, or GCP - Write clean, well-documented, and testable code and actively participate in peer code reviews - Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to continuous improvements in development processes - Monitor application health and logging using the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) - Keep pace with emerging trends and best practices in Java and cloud-based development Required Qualifications - 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in Java or J2EE development with strong Spring Boot and Spring Framework expertise - Proven ability to design and implement RESTful APIs - Working knowledge of Oracle (relational) and MongoDB (NoSQL) databases - Practical experience with Angular for front-end development - Experience with Docker containerisation and at least one cloud platform such as OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, or GCP - Solid understanding of microservices architecture and associated design patterns - Familiarity with the ELK stack for logging and monitoring - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills - Experience with messaging systems like Apache Kafka or ActiveMQ is a plus - Knowledge of legacy technologies such as JSP, Struts 2.x, or DWR for codebase maintenance is advantageous Why Join Us Citi is one of the world's leading financial institutions, offering you the chance to work on complex, high-impact systems that support global trade and finance operations.
