IT Engineer - Mainframe

Role Overview BNP Paribas India Solutions is seeking a skilled IT Engineer specializing in Mainframe environments to join its Application Production team in Chennai. This role sits within the IT Production unit which oversees approximately 700 applications and 4000 servers, making it a highly visible and critical function. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing digital transformation roadmap while ensuring production stability and security across BNL BNP Paribas IT operations. Key Responsibilities - Manage smooth and efficient transition of IT projects during their operational phase - Work alongside cross-functional teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve transition-related issues - Continuously refine transition processes and methodologies to improve overall effectiveness - Coordinate closely with Rome IT Application Production Teams involved in the IT Evolution program - Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting defined deadlines - Contribute to regular activity reporting and KPI tracking - Support knowledge transfer and skill development within the ISPL team - Apply lessons learned from handovers to improve future processes Required Qualifications - Hands-on experience with Mainframe infrastructure administration including TSO, ISPF/S, CICS, Scheduler IWS, Microfocus Changeman, DB2, and JCL - Working knowledge of Axway Transfer CFT and MQ Series - Familiarity with ITIL framework and general IT infrastructure concepts - Understanding of IT production backup, high availability setups, and disaster recovery planning - Experience using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills - Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification - Basic knowledge of the Italian language is an added advantage Why Join Us BNP Paribas is the European Union's leading bank operating across 65 countries with nearly 185,000 employees worldwide, offering a truly global and inclusive work environment.
