Designer - Piping

Role Overview Wood is looking for an experienced Designer in Piping to join its Chennai team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of Oil & Gas projects. The role involves undertaking end-to-end piping design activities, validating layouts, and supporting the broader Piping and Plant Layout Group in delivering high-quality project outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-senior level professional who thrives in a collaborative, international engineering environment. Key Responsibilities - Carry out piping design activities including layout development, plot plan preparation, and production of accurate deliverables - Sign off on drawings and documents as originator in line with established procedures - Ensure technical accuracy and quality in design outputs including drawings and material quantity estimates - Execute assigned work in accordance with contract procedures, client standards, and project requirements - Apply correct piping CAD and intelligent system functions such as SP3D for the designated project area - Adhere to WIEPPL engineering procedures to maintain design safety and integrity - Support HSSE and Quality Policy objectives by following applicable procedures and work practices - Proactively identify deficiencies in design standards and recommend or implement improvements Required Qualifications - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred - Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with the SP3D piping design tool - Exposure to grassroots, brownfield, and revamp project types - Solid understanding of general piping design principles and piping layout development - Experience in site-based design activities supporting construction teams - Proficiency in intelligent CAD systems and related engineering software Why Join Us Wood offers a competitive remuneration package, medical insurance, life and accident cover, an employee share plan, and strong commitment to professional development through tailored development plans and access to the Energy Transition Academy.
