Data Visualization Engineer - Grafana and SQL

Role Overview Saint-Gobain Group in India is hiring a skilled Data Visualization Engineer with deep expertise in Grafana and SQL to join their digital transformation team in Chennai. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced dashboards that drive industrial performance and data-driven decision-making across Glass sites. This role blends technical proficiency with strong data modeling and communication skills to convert complex business requirements into clear, actionable visual insights. Key Responsibilities - Build advanced, user-friendly Grafana dashboards with interactive panels, variables, alert rules, and dynamic visualizations - Standardize dashboard templates for reuse across multiple plant locations - Connect Grafana to SQL data sources such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, Ignition Gateway, or external APIs - Write optimized SQL queries, views, and stored procedures aligned with business KPIs - Develop custom Grafana plugins using JavaScript or TypeScript when out-of-the-box features are insufficient - Integrate third-party JS libraries using modern build tools like Webpack or ESBuild - Optimize dashboard loading times, query execution, and backend resource usage for large industrial datasets - Collaborate with DTI teams and plant process engineers to gather requirements and deliver solutions - Provide end-user training and support on Grafana usage and dashboard best practices - Document dashboards, data models, and data flows for governance and knowledge sharing - Contribute to visualization standards and participate in industrial digitalization initiatives Required Qualifications - 2 to 5 years of experience in data visualization, data engineering, or monitoring roles - Strong hands-on experience with Grafana including dashboards, panels, variables, alerts, and plugins - Proficiency in SQL covering query optimization, data modeling, and indexing - Experience with DevOps practices including Grafana provisioning, Git, and CI/CD pipelines - Ability to work with APIs, JSON, and external data connectors - Good understanding of KPIs, data visualization principles, and user experience design - Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex datasets - Excellent communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Why Join Us Saint-Gobain is a global leader in sustainable construction and industrial innovation, offering a dynamic environment where your data engineering skills will directly shape industrial performance at scale.
