Data Scientist

Role Overview Ford Motor Company is looking for a skilled Data Scientist to join its Chennai team and drive data-driven decision-making across the organisation. This is a full-time mid-senior level opportunity to apply cutting-edge techniques in Statistics, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Generative AI to solve real-world automotive and business challenges. The role covers the complete project lifecycle, from problem definition and data gathering to model development, visualisation, and operational deployment. Key Responsibilities - Discover, curate, and analyse new and existing data sources to generate actionable business insights - Translate complex business problems into well-defined analytical solutions and deliver results on time - Work with large-scale datasets using tools such as Python, SQL, Google Cloud Services, BigQuery, and Hadoop - Design and deploy analytic products leveraging statistical analysis, machine learning, regression, classification, clustering, and tree-based algorithms - Develop and deliver Generative AI solutions including Large Language Model (LLM) based analytic products - Build and maintain reporting and visualisation dashboards using tools like PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, or Qlik Sense - Collaborate cross-functionally with diverse business teams and manage stakeholder relationships effectively - Provide training, maintenance, and continuous improvement of implemented analytical tools and products - Collect user feedback and iteratively enhance analytic solutions for better business outcomes Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline - 4 or more years of hands-on experience with analytical tools and real-world data projects - Minimum 3 years of experience using SQL for data acquisition and transformation - Minimum 3 years of experience with Python and visualisation or dashboard tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense - Minimum 3 years of experience in data mining, statistical modelling, optimisation, or similar analytics work - Hands-on experience with predictive analytics techniques including regression, classification, clustering, and tree-based algorithms - Conceptual knowledge in one or more of NLP, forecasting algorithms, or deep learning - Familiarity with BigQuery, SQL, and visualisation platforms such as PowerBI or Looker - Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to diverse audiences - Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision in ambiguous problem environments - Experience in the automotive industry is a significant advantage Why Join Us Ford Motor Company offers a collaborative, innovative work environment where you will work alongside talented professionals and contribute to transformative technology in the automotive sector.
