Data Architect

Role Overview Virtusa is looking for a skilled and experienced Data Architect to join its engineering and technology team in Chennai. This is a full-time opportunity for a mid-senior level professional with deep expertise in AWS-based data solutions and modern data engineering practices. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing scalable data systems and driving data pipeline strategies across the organisation. Key Responsibilities - Design and implement robust data pipelines to support ingestion, transformation, and movement of data across AWS environments - Develop and maintain ETL jobs using AWS Glue to process and load data efficiently - Build and manage data storage and processing systems leveraging AWS services including S3, RDS, Athena, and Redshift - Collaborate with cross-functional and multicultural teams to deliver high-quality data engineering solutions - Apply CI/CD best practices using tools like Terraform and Git Actions to automate and streamline deployment workflows - Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across all data warehousing and Big Data systems Required Qualifications - Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience working on AWS-based data engineering projects - Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark for building and optimising data engineering workflows - Solid understanding of Big Data technologies and data warehousing concepts - Proven experience with AWS Data Engineering stack including S3, RDS, Athena, Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions - Advanced SQL skills for data querying, manipulation, and analysis - Experience with CI/CD tools such as Terraform and Git Actions - Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural team environment Why Join Us Virtusa is a globally recognised technology services company known for its engineering-first approach and innovation-driven culture.
