Data Architect

Role Overview Virtusa is looking for a skilled and experienced Data Architect to join its growing technology team in Chennai. This is a full-time opportunity for a mid-senior level professional with deep expertise in AWS-based data engineering and cloud architecture. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining robust data infrastructure that powers business intelligence and analytics at scale. Key Responsibilities - Design and implement scalable data pipelines to support enterprise-level data ingestion, transformation, and delivery workflows - Develop and manage ETL jobs using AWS Glue to ingest and move data seamlessly across the AWS environment - Build and maintain end-to-end systems for data collection, storage, processing, and analysis using AWS services including S3, RDS, Athena, and Redshift - Architect and optimize data warehousing solutions aligned with Big Data best practices and organisational requirements - Collaborate with cross-functional and multicultural teams to define data models, schemas, and integration strategies - Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Terraform and Git Actions to streamline data engineering deployments - Write complex SQL queries for data manipulation, reporting, and performance tuning across relational and cloud-native databases Required Qualifications - Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience working on AWS-based data engineering projects - Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark for data processing and transformation tasks - In-depth knowledge of Big Data technologies and modern data warehousing concepts - Practical experience with the AWS Data Engineering stack including S3, RDS, Athena, Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions - Advanced SQL skills for querying and manipulating large datasets - Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Terraform and GitHub Actions - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to thrive in a multicultural work environment Why Join Us Virtusa is a globally recognised technology services company known for its engineering-first culture and innovation-driven approach.
