Associate Technical Lead - Software Development

Role Overview KLA is a global semiconductor process control leader whose technologies power virtually every electronic device manufactured worldwide. The Associate Technical Lead - Software Development role is based within the Optical Metrology Division (OMD) and involves working on the Archer, ATL, and MTD product lines built on the ATLAS software platform. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled C++ engineer to contribute to world-class metrology software used by every major semiconductor manufacturer globally. Key Responsibilities - Acquire and demonstrate deep technical knowledge of OMD product software and key Optical Metrology use cases - Work on complex software problems requiring thorough evaluation of data, system behaviour, and design trade-offs - Ensure detailed designs, code, and unit tests are robust, consistent, scalable, and future-proof - Understand existing software architecture and drive meaningful design and architectural improvements - Participate in requirements definition, review processes, and provide technical impact assessments for requirement changes - Contribute technical expertise to project estimation and planning activities - Lead small development teams in delivering key product features - Identify, review, and help mitigate technical risks in collaboration with the Technical Manager - Follow KLA-defined software development processes including CMM standards - Continuously look for opportunities to improve the organisation's development procedures and propose actionable solutions Required Qualifications - Master's degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of relevant experience - Strong foundation in programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, C++, VC++, MFC, and COM - Proven experience architecting software systems from scratch and leading project teams - Diverse hands-on experience across analysis, design, development, and unit testing - Detailed knowledge of SDLC and software engineering best practices - Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across business and technical teams at all levels - Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organisational skills - Willingness to travel to Israel, the US, and other customer locations for short assignments - Preferred: Experience with COM/DCOM using MFC/ATL, .NET, C#, or WPF - Preferred: Knowledge of STL, WinDBG, and Windows Internals Why Join Us KLA invests over 15% of its annual revenue back into research and development, making it one of the most innovation-driven companies in the semiconductor industry.
