Role Overview
Standard Chartered India is looking for an Associate Production Engineer to join its WRB Technology team in Chennai. This mid-senior role is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of production services across one or more technical platforms. You will work in a 24x7 rotational support model, applying SRE best practices, AI-driven tooling, and automation to deliver exceptional service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end resolution of high-priority and medium-to-high severity incidents within defined SLAs, ensuring root cause analysis and follow-up action closure
- Drive monitoring and observability goals by building comprehensive alerting, logging, and proactive detection capabilities for critical production services
- Automate operational tasks including deployments, infrastructure scaling, and monitoring to reduce manual effort and operational risk
- Apply SRE practices including post-incident reviews, performance optimisation, and design of robust deployment pipelines such as blue-green and canary release strategies
- Review and implement production changes, releases, and rollouts with minimal disruption, ensuring fallback plans, implementation steps, and validation checks are in place
- Leverage AI-driven tools for log analysis, anomaly detection, alert correlation, and capacity forecasting to proactively resolve production issues
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to integrate AI and ML capabilities into monitoring, incident management, and self-healing workflows
- Participate in cross-training and structured knowledge transfer activities within and across support and engineering teams
- Contribute to monthly dashboard reporting on incident trends, service improvement initiatives, and RCA action items
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in application production support and site reliability engineering
- Mandatory hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate
- Proficiency in at least one relational database such as DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
- Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems
- Mandatory experience with Kubernetes and AWS cloud infrastructure
- Working knowledge of Tomcat or JBoss application servers
- Proficient user experience with Elasticsearch and Grafana
- Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot
- Any graduation in computer science or an equivalent technical field
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts including night shifts as part of a 24x7 support model

Requirements
- 7+ years in application production support and SRE roles
- Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate (mandatory)
