Associate Production Engineer - WRB Technology

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is hiring an Associate Production Engineer for its WRB Technology team in Chennai. This mid-senior role is responsible for ensuring the stability, quality, and reliability of production services across one or more platform domains. The engineer will play a key part in incident resolution, root cause analysis, change management, and driving continual service improvement through automation and SRE practices. Key Responsibilities - Manage and resolve high-priority and medium-to-high severity incidents end-to-end within defined SLAs, ensuring prompt restoration of production services - Conduct thorough root cause analysis for major incidents and drive closure of all follow-up action items to prevent recurrence - Oversee production changes, releases, and rollouts with zero or minimal disruption, including review of fallback plans, implementation plans, and data conversion steps - Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging for critical services to enable proactive detection and rapid remediation - Automate operational tasks such as deployments, scaling, and infrastructure management to reduce manual effort and operational risk - Participate in incident response, post-mortems, and post-incident reviews to institutionalise learnings and minimise future downtime - Leverage AI-driven tools for log analysis, anomaly detection, alert correlation, and capacity forecasting to proactively manage production health - Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to integrate AI and ML capabilities into monitoring, self-healing workflows, and intelligent runbooks - Create and maintain production support documentation, DR and BCP procedures, and contribute to monthly dashboard inputs on incident and problem trends - Support cross-training and structured knowledge transfer activities within and across support and engineering teams Required Qualifications - Minimum 7 years of experience in application production support and site reliability engineering - Mandatory proficiency in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate - Hands-on experience with at least one relational database: DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL - Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems - Mandatory experience with Kubernetes and AWS cloud infrastructure - Proficiency in Tomcat or JBoss application servers - Proficient user experience with Elasticsearch and Grafana - Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot - Willingness to work in rotational shifts including night shifts as part of a 24x7 support model - Any graduate degree in computer science or an equivalent technical field Why Join Us Standard Chartered is a purpose-driven international bank with over 170 years of history, committed to making a positive difference for clients, communities, and employees alike.
