Associate Production Engineer - WRB Technology

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is looking for an Associate Production Engineer to join the WRB Technology team in Chennai. This mid-senior role is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of production systems across one or more platform domains. You will play a key part in incident management, change governance, observability, and the adoption of AI-driven automation to support a world-class site reliability engineering function. Key Responsibilities - Manage technical resolution of high-priority and medium-to-high severity incidents end-to-end, ensuring adherence to defined SLAs - Perform thorough root cause analysis for all significant incidents and drive follow-up action items to closure to prevent recurrence - Own production stability by directing second and third-level support for problem diagnosis, resolution, and escalation management - Review and implement production changes, releases, and rollouts with zero or minimal disruption to application stability and client experience - Ensure robust technical plans are in place for all production changes, including implementation steps, rollback strategies, and data migration or conversion plans - Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging coverage for critical services to enable proactive detection and rapid remediation - Drive automation of operational tasks including deployments, scaling, and infrastructure management to reduce manual effort and operational risk - Participate in incident response, post-incident reviews, and post-mortems to institutionalise learnings and minimise future downtime - Leverage AI-driven tools such as GitHub Copilot for log analysis, anomaly detection, alert correlation, and capacity forecasting - Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to integrate AI and ML capabilities into monitoring, self-healing workflows, and intelligent runbooks - Maintain and update production support documentation, DR and BCP processes, and contingency plans - Contribute inputs to monthly dashboard reporting on incident and problem trends, SIP actions, and RCA outcomes - Participate in cross-training and structured knowledge transfer activities across support and engineering teams Required Qualifications - Minimum 7 years of experience in application production support and site reliability engineering - Mandatory hands-on proficiency in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate - Strong working knowledge of at least one relational database platform: DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL - Mandatory experience with Linux operating systems - Mandatory experience with Kubernetes and AWS cloud infrastructure - Hands-on experience with Tomcat or JBoss application servers - Proficient user experience with Elasticsearch and Grafana - Familiarity with AI tools, particularly GitHub Copilot - Willingness to work in rotational shifts including night shifts as part of a 24x7 support model - Any graduation in computer science or an equivalent technical discipline Why Join Us Standard Chartered is a purpose-driven international bank with over 170 years of history, committed to making a positive difference for clients, communities, and colleagues worldwide.
