Job Description

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is looking for an Associate Production Engineer to join the WRB Technology team in Chennai. This mid-senior role is central to ensuring the stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of production services across one or more platform domains. You will act as a first responder to technical incidents, drive root cause analysis, and champion site reliability engineering practices within a 24x7 global banking environment. Key Responsibilities - Manage and resolve high-priority and medium-to-high severity incidents end-to-end within agreed SLAs, ensuring swift technical resumption of production services - Conduct thorough root cause analysis for all significant incidents and follow through on all remediation and corrective action points - Oversee production changes, releases, and rollouts with minimal disruption, including review of dependent changes across infrastructure, networks, and surrounding systems - Ensure robust technical plans covering implementation steps, fallback strategies, data conversion, and validation checks are in place for every production change - Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks to enable proactive detection and rapid remediation of issues - Drive automation of operational tasks such as deployments, scaling, and infrastructure management to reduce manual effort and operational risk - Apply SRE practices including post-incident reviews and performance optimisation to minimise downtime and embed a culture of continuous learning - Leverage AI-driven tools such as GitHub Copilot for log analysis, anomaly detection, alert correlation, and capacity forecasting to proactively resolve production issues - Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to integrate AI and ML capabilities into monitoring, incident management, and self-healing workflows - Maintain and update production support documentation including contingency, DR, and BCP processes - Contribute inputs for monthly dashboards covering incident trends, SIP updates, and RCA action items - Participate in cross-training and knowledge transfer activities across support and engineering teams Required Qualifications - Minimum 7 years of experience in application production support and stability as part of an SRE function - Mandatory proficiency in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate - Hands-on experience with at least one of DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL - Strong Linux skills are essential - Mandatory experience with Kubernetes and AWS - Proficiency in Tomcat or JBoss application servers - Solid working experience with Elasticsearch and Grafana - Familiarity with AI tools, particularly GitHub Copilot - Any graduation in computer science or an equivalent technical field - Willingness to work in rotational shifts including night shifts as part of a 24x7 support model - AWS Certification, SRE Certification, or ITIL Certification are added advantages Why Join Us Standard Chartered is a 170-year-old international bank with a strong commitment to making a positive difference for clients, communities, and employees alike. Requirements

- 7 or more years in application production support and SRE roles - Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate (mandatory) - DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL database experience - Linux administration skills (mandatory) - Kubernetes and AWS (mandatory) - Tomcat or JBoss application server experience - Proficient in Elasticsearch and Grafana - Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI tools - Incident management, root cause analysis, and SLA adherence - Knowledge of DR, BCP, and contingency planning - Willingness to work 24x7 rotational shifts including nights - Degree in computer science or equivalent field
