Associate Production Engineer - WRB Technology

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is hiring an Associate Production Engineer for its WRB Technology division based in Chennai. This mid-senior role is responsible for ensuring maximum service quality, stability, and reliability of production systems across one or more technology platforms or domains. The engineer will serve as a key driver of operational excellence by responding swiftly to technical incidents, leading root cause analysis, and identifying continual service improvement opportunities. Key Responsibilities - Manage technical resolution of high-priority and medium-to-high severity incidents end-to-end, ensuring closure within agreed SLA timelines - Conduct thorough root cause analysis for critical incidents and ensure all follow-up action items are tracked and completed - Oversee production changes, releases, and rollouts with zero or minimal disruption, including reviewing dependent changes across surrounding infrastructure and networks - Drive and achieve north-star monitoring and observability goals by building comprehensive alerting, logging, and detection capabilities for critical services - Automate operational tasks such as deployments, scaling, and infrastructure management to reduce manual effort and operational risk - Apply SRE practices including post-incident reviews and post-mortems to minimise downtime and embed learning from failures - Leverage AI-driven tools for log analysis, anomaly detection, alert correlation, and capacity forecasting to proactively identify and resolve production issues - Maintain and update production support documentation, DR and BCP plans, and contingency processes - Participate in cross-training and structured knowledge transfer activities within and across support and engineering teams - Contribute inputs for monthly dashboards covering incident and problem trends, SIP initiatives, and RCA action items Required Qualifications - Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in application production support and site reliability engineering - Mandatory proficiency in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate - Strong working knowledge of at least one relational database: DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL - Linux administration is essential - Kubernetes and AWS are mandatory skills - Experience with Tomcat or JBoss application servers is required - Proficient user experience with Elasticsearch and Grafana - Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot - Any graduation in computer science or an equivalent technical discipline - Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift model including night shifts Why Join Us Standard Chartered is a 170-year-old international bank that celebrates diversity and is committed to making a positive difference for clients, communities, and employees alike.
