Application Support Engineer

Role Overview BNP Paribas India Solutions is hiring an experienced Application Support Engineer to join its IT CARATS department in Chennai. This role is part of the Infrastructure and Monitoring team that ensures stability, performance, security, and continuous availability of application services across non-production environments. The engineer will work within an Agile and DevOps framework, collaborating with development teams and business stakeholders to drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities - Operate autonomously on day-to-day IT operations to maintain non-production environment stability and service availability - Implement, configure, and supervise monitoring, alerting, and supervision solutions for applications and technical infrastructure components - Proactively identify risks, performance issues, and improvement opportunities to optimise non-production infrastructure resources including CPU and RAM across legacy and cloud environments - Support development teams in accelerating and securing deliveries within Agile and DevOps practices - Manage incidents and problems end-to-end, including service restoration, root cause analysis, and stakeholder communication - Participate in IT-Business meetings to align technical operations with business priorities and constraints - Maintain and update operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge bases - Support release preparation, deployment activities, and production transition processes Required Qualifications - Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field - Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IT operations and application support - Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration tools including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift - Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Jenkins, and XL Release - Experience with monitoring platforms, preferably Dynatrace - Strong command of Linux and Windows operating systems - Knowledge of Oracle and SQL databases - Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and configuration management via Ansible - Understanding of ITIL concepts and Service Now for incident, problem, and change management - Experience with scheduling tools like Control-M and file transfer solutions such as CFT Why Join Us BNP Paribas is the European Union's leading bank operating across 65 countries, offering a dynamic global work environment with strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and career growth.
