AI Specialist - Business Process Automation

Role Overview Flex is seeking a highly skilled AI Specialist with a strong background in Business Process Automation to join their team in Pune. This is a hands-on technical role for an experienced Hybrid AI Engineer and Automation Architect who can bridge the gap between legacy corporate workflows and cutting-edge Generative AI capabilities. The ideal candidate will lead the transition from over 700 Excel-based legacy automation tools to modern, Python-driven, cloud-native AI solutions. Key Responsibilities - Define and execute the strategic roadmap to transition operations from legacy spreadsheet-based methods to an AI-first ecosystem - Architect and deliver end-to-end, production-grade AI project pipelines from data extraction through to cloud deployment - Reverse-engineer, map, and decommission legacy Excel-based automation tools and VBA macros, re-platforming them into scalable cloud-native workflows - Establish standardised Business Process Automation methods including error-handling frameworks and transaction logging across all solutions - Design automated pipelines to ingest, parse, and process complex technical engineering data from diverse formats using advanced Python libraries - Build high-performance ETL pipelines using Pandas and NumPy to transform raw technical files into structured datasets ready for AI ingestion - Deploy Large Language Models to autonomously scan, categorise, and act on high volumes of incoming Outlook emails - Integrate cloud AI services with Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Outlook using programmatic interfaces and APIs - Leverage cloud Co-pilot platforms and OpenAI API services including function calling and embeddings to build multi-agent enterprise automation systems Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related technical field - 8 to 12 years of experience as a Hybrid AI Engineer or Automation Architect - Expert-level proficiency in Python with a focus on clean, scalable, production-grade code - Deep expertise in AI and LLM architecture including OpenAI API, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic workflows, embeddings, and fine-tuning - Advanced skills in data engineering using Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy for complex data manipulation, cleansing, and deduplication - Proficiency in Microsoft ecosystem integration including Excel automation via OpenPyXL or XlsxWriter, and Outlook integration via Win32com or Microsoft Graph API - Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as Azure AI Studio, AWS Bedrock, or OpenAI cloud services - Strong understanding of BPA methods including event-driven architecture, state machines, and legacy VBA-to-Python migration Why Join Us Flex offers the opportunity to work on a transformative, enterprise-scale AI modernisation initiative that will redefine how engineering operations are run globally.
