AI ML Data Engineer

As an AI ML Data Engineer within KLA's Information Technology group in Chennai, you will join a high-impact team building next-generation AI systems using Large Language Models, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimise RAG pipelines covering document chunking, embedding generation, vector storage, retrieval, reranking, and citation-grounded generation - Build and fine-tune LLM-based applications using open-source models such as LLaMA and Mistral, including prompt engineering strategies and inference service deployment - Develop and maintain machine learning models for classification, regression, recommendation, and anomaly detection as well as deep learning architectures including CNNs, RNNs, and Transformers - Implement comprehensive model evaluation frameworks covering accuracy, F1, BLEU, perplexity, hallucination detection, and relevance scoring - Collaborate with senior engineers to build scalable AI pipelines, safety guardrails, and integrations with enterprise systems Required Qualifications - Strong Python programming skills with solid understanding of data structures and algorithms - Hands-on experience with NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn for machine learning prototyping - Proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow/Keras with knowledge of CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers, and attention mechanisms - Familiarity with Hugging Face Transformers including tokenizers, embeddings, and model fine-tuning - Experience with vector databases such as Milvus, FAISS, Pinecone, or ElasticSearch - Working knowledge of SQL, Git/GitHub, Jupyter, and basic Docker - Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience, Master's degree with 3 years, or Doctorate with relevant exposure Why Join Us KLA invests over 15 percent of annual sales into research and development, creating an environment where engineers tackle some of the most challenging problems in global technology.
