Safety Manager

Role Overview Chemplast Sanmar is looking for an experienced Safety Manager to lead and strengthen the Environment, Health, and Safety function at its Mettur facility. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Process Safety Management within chemical, petrochemical, or fertilizer industries and will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a robust safety culture across the organisation. Key Responsibilities - Oversee and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) systems to ensure full implementation and compliance - Conduct regular safety inspections across plant areas and ensure timely resolution of identified action items - Lead incident and near-miss investigations, performing thorough root cause analysis and recommending corrective measures - Plan, coordinate, and execute internal safety audits and HSE performance evaluations - Develop, update, and implement emergency response plans including firefighting system operations, maintenance, and periodic inspections - Ensure proper implementation and monitoring of Work Permit Systems across all operational areas - Drive compliance with Indian EHS regulatory frameworks and facilitate continual improvement initiatives - Apply knowledge of safety standards including BIS, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA in day-to-day operations - Conduct safety training sessions and awareness programs to engage stakeholders at all levels and promote a strong safety culture - Perform hazard identification, HIRA, HAZOP studies, and hazard analysis as required Required Qualifications - B.E or B.Tech with a Diploma in Industrial Safety from RLI, or M.E or M.Tech in Industrial Safety - Minimum 15 years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or fertilizer sector - Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management systems - Hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and emergency planning - Familiarity with Indian EHS regulatory requirements and international safety standards Why Join Us Chemplast Sanmar is one of India's leading specialty chemicals manufacturers with a strong legacy of operational excellence and safety. - B.E or B.Tech with Diploma in Industrial Safety from RLI or M.E or M.Tech in Industrial Safety - Minimum 15 years of experience in chemical, petrochemical, or fertilizer industries - Expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM) systems - Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management systems - Familiarity with Indian EHS regulatory frameworks - Working knowledge of BIS, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA standards - Experience in incident and near-miss investigation and root cause analysis - Experience conducting safety inspections and internal HSE audits - Knowledge of Work Permit Systems implementation - Experience in emergency response planning and firefighting system management - Ability to conduct HIRA, HAZOP, and hazard identification studies - Strong stakeholder engagement and safety training capabilities
