Principal Engineer - WiFi Software Development

Role Overview Infineon Technologies is looking for a skilled Principal Engineer to join its expanding Core WiFi Software Development team in Bengaluru. This is a hybrid technical and people-management role suited for a candidate who brings strong hands-on experience in WiFi firmware and embedded software development along with a genuine interest in leading and growing engineering teams. The role involves active collaboration with marketing, R&D, and cross-functional global teams to deliver quality automotive and commercial software solutions. Key Responsibilities - Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and day-to-day mentoring of WiFi software engineers - Manage task assignments, help the team with scoping, prioritization, and on-time delivery - Work closely with technical leads for feature prioritization and with management for team growth and promotions - Guide R&D development efforts within the team and promote patent filing and technical publications - Coordinate with marketing teams to gain clarity on end-market requirements - Support the team in debugging and resolving driver synchronization issues between threads, kernel space, and application space - Identify performance bottlenecks in device drivers and propose solutions to improve CPU utilization and data throughput - Provide technical direction on interrupt handling, DMA, cache, and SMP-related challenges in device drivers - Engage with customers and multi-geographic teams for requirement gathering and delivery alignment Required Qualifications - Strong working knowledge of 802.11 WiFi standards and TCP/IP networking - Proven expertise in Linux network device driver development - Solid command of C programming language and RTOS concepts including system primitives - Hands-on experience with embedded operating systems such as Linux and Android - Familiarity with host bus interfaces including SDIO, SPI, USB, and PCIe - Ability to work across multiple assignments and adapt to shifting priorities - Experience with WPA Supplicant, open source development, automotive middleware, or platforms like Qualcomm, Samsung, or Nvidia is an added advantage - Knowledge of Open Synergy, QNX, GENIVI, or CAN is a plus Why Join Us At Infineon Technologies, you will be part of a global semiconductor leader driving innovations in green energy, safe mobility, and smart IoT solutions.
