Medical Coder - Emergency and Multispecialty (Lateral Hiring)

Role Overview NTT DATA, Inc. is actively hiring experienced Medical Coders with a strong background in Emergency Medicine and Multispecialty coding for its Healthcare BPO operations in Chennai and Coimbatore. This is a lateral hiring drive open to candidates with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a Healthcare BPO environment. Candidates with CPC certification and hands-on exposure to EM Outpatient coding and multispecialty procedure codes are strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities - Read and interpret clinical documentation to accurately identify patient diagnoses and assigned procedures - Transform healthcare diagnoses, medical services, procedures, and equipment details into standardised alphanumeric medical codes - Review clinical statements and assign correct universal codes in line with established medical coding guidelines - Ensure uniform and accurate documentation across medical facilities by applying consistent coding vocabulary - Identify documentation deficiencies and escalate where necessary to maintain coding quality - Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support and mentor fresher coders within the team Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of experience in a Healthcare BPO with specialisation in Emergency Medicine (EM) Multispecialty coding - CPC certification is mandatory or strongly preferred - Solid working knowledge of EM Outpatient coding, multispecialty coding, and procedure codes - At least 1 year of hands-on experience using Windows-based computer applications including keyboard navigation, screen management, and learning new software tools - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English to effectively coordinate with clients - Willingness to work Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM IST with flexibility for overtime and weekend work based on business needs - Any graduate degree is acceptable Why Join Us NTT DATA, Inc. is a globally recognised IT services and consulting organisation offering a structured, professional environment in the Healthcare and Life Sciences domain.
