Mainframe Batch and Console Operations Expert

Role Overview Kyndryl India is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Batch and Console Operations Expert to join its technology operations team in Bengaluru. In this mid-senior role, you will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining mainframe batch processing environments across Production, QA, and Test regions. You will work at the technical frontline, ensuring high system availability and delivering reliable support to some of the world's leading enterprises. Key Responsibilities - Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve JCL abends, override issues, and symbolic parameter problems - Allocate and manage BIOS, TIF, GDG, and VSAM datasets to ensure data integrity - Monitor and manage OPC/TWS job scheduling activities including hold/release actions, predecessor/successor analysis, and database lookups - Support NDM/Connect Direct operations including process monitoring, transfer failure troubleshooting, DR transfers, and client file transfers - Perform PDX activities such as installs, promotes, backouts, and password reset support using Power IDs - Coordinate batch job restarts, abend recovery, and customer escalations within defined SLA timelines - Manage ITSM incidents, problem tickets, FACHA/Hot Item creation, ticket reassignment, and closure - Execute weekend IPL support activities, validate environment availability, and coordinate fixes for out-of-sequence abends - Collaborate with development, storage, infrastructure, and client teams to resolve production issues and support critical business operations - Utilize break-glass procedures for emergency production support access when required Required Qualifications - 10 or more years of hands-on experience in Mainframe Production Support - Strong expertise in JCL troubleshooting and abend resolution - Proficiency in OPC/TWS job scheduling and monitoring - Working knowledge of NDM/Connect Direct file transfer operations - Experience managing VSAM, GDG, BIOS, and TIF datasets - Familiarity with PDX deployment activities and ITSM ticketing systems - Demonstrated ability to handle incident and problem management with minimal downtime - Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills - Experience supporting IPL activities as part of routine system maintenance Why Join Us Kyndryl offers a hybrid-friendly, inclusive culture with robust career development tools, access to certifications from Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, and meaningful work that powers mission-critical systems globally.
