Mainframe Batch and Console Operations Expert

Role Overview Kyndryl India is looking for a seasoned Mainframe Batch and Console Operations Expert to join its technology operations team in Bengaluru. In this mid-senior role, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting mainframe batch processing environments across Production, QA, and Test regions. You will work at the technical frontline, ensuring high system availability, smooth batch operations, and timely incident resolution in alignment with customer service agreements. Key Responsibilities - Analyze and resolve JCL abends, override issues, and symbolic parameter problems to maintain job stability - Allocate and manage datasets including VSAM, GDG, BIOS, and TIF as per operational requirements - Monitor and manage OPC/TWS job scheduling activities including hold/release actions, predecessor/successor analysis, and database lookups - Coordinate batch job restarts, abend recovery, and customer escalations within defined SLA timelines - Support NDM/Connect Direct operations including process monitoring, troubleshooting transfer failures, and DR file transfers - Perform PDX activities such as installs, promotes, backouts, and password reset support using Power IDs - Manage ITSM incidents, problem tickets, FACHA/Hot Item creation, ticket reassignment, and closure - Execute weekend IPL support activities, validate environment availability, and coordinate fixes for out-of-sequence abends - Perform file out-of-space (FOOS) recovery and support batch/online recovery activities - Identify ownership of Production and QA jobs and coordinate with relevant development groups Required Qualifications - 10 or more years of hands-on experience in Mainframe Production Support - Strong proficiency in JCL troubleshooting and abend resolution - Experience with OPC/TWS scheduling and monitoring tools - Working knowledge of NDM/Connect Direct for file transfer management - Expertise in VSAM and GDG dataset management - Familiarity with PDX deployment processes and related activities - Proven experience with ITSM ticketing systems for incident and problem management - Strong analytical and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration - Ability to support IPL activities as part of regular system maintenance Why Join Us Kyndryl offers a hybrid-friendly, purpose-driven work culture with access to industry-leading certifications from Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, along with structured career growth programmes and continuous learning opportunities.
