Financial Crime Data Scientist

Role Overview HSBC is seeking an experienced Financial Crime Data Scientist to join our team in Bengaluru. In this role, you will apply advanced analytics, statistical analysis, and Python modeling to identify changes in financial crime risk profiles and optimize control frameworks. You will work closely with investigations, detection, and risk teams globally to translate complex data into actionable risk mitigation strategies. Key Responsibilities - Maintain and support proactive data-driven approaches to detect changes in financial crime risk profiles - Assist in developing, embedding, and updating compliance frameworks, policies, and controls for the RAD program - Build predictive models and perform statistical data analyses using Python to identify anomalies and trends - Collaborate with global risk stewards, investigations, and business units to continuously improve crime controls - Draft high-quality reports and data visualizations to communicate complex findings to senior management - Resolve identified compliance issues promptly and escalate potential risk concerns to leadership Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field - Strong coding proficiency in Python and solid experience in statistical data analysis - Experience with data visualization tools and advanced Excel functions - Background in financial crime detection, compliance analytics, or macro themes like geopolitics and digitization - Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal English communication skills - Ability to work independently, manage project deliverables, and collaborate across international divisions Why Join Us At HSBC, you will be part of one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations.
