Role Overview
ExxonMobil is seeking an experienced Environmental, Regulatory and Socioeconomic Advisor to join its India operations in Bengaluru. This mid-senior level role is pivotal in enabling project concept selection, design, and execution by providing critical environmental and regulatory guidance. The successful candidate will work across multiple functions, bringing strong technical expertise and communication skills to ensure full permitting and regulatory compliance across upstream and energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct early-stage environmental aspect assessments and lead environmental, social and health impact assessment studies for projects
- Develop and manage regulatory permitting roadmaps to ensure timely and compliant project execution
- Prepare and implement Environmental and Socioeconomic Management Plans, Regulatory Compliance Plans, and Waste Management Plans
- Develop community engagement plans, grievance management frameworks, and socio-economic development plans
- Support planning and execution of public consultation programs and monitor ongoing environmental and socioeconomic performance
- Manage contractor relationships including contract language development, contractor selection, and performance monitoring
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring to project teams and company personnel on environmental and regulatory matters
- Facilitate improvement initiatives that positively impact ER&S culture, systems, and processes
- Perform environmental and socioeconomic relative risk screenings for proposed projects
- Share ER&S best practices and key learnings across project teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, preferably in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or Social Sciences
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical sector with a focus on environmental management
- Strong ethical standards and professional conduct
- Willingness to travel for business and periodically relocate to project locations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and applications
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with a strong business perspective
- Ability to adapt effectively to shifting priorities and dynamic project environments

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Engineering, or Social Sciences
- Minimum 8 years of experience in oil and gas or petrochemical sector
- Experience in environmental aspect assessments and ESHIA studies
- Knowledge of regulatory permitting processes and compliance planning
- Strong skills in developing environmental and socioeconomic management plans
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication and stakeholder influencing skills
- Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as required
