Engineering Manager - Platform Engineering

Role Overview Freshworks is looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact platform engineering team responsible for building and scaling core platform capabilities including data entity platforms, workflow-as-a-service, unified search, omnichannel communication, and data governance. This is a techno-managerial role that demands a strong blend of technical depth, people leadership, and strategic execution. You will work closely with product, design, and platform stakeholders to deliver scalable, cloud-native, multi-tenant services that power Freshworks products used by over 72,000 companies worldwide. Key Responsibilities - Define and own engineering practices, standards, and technical architecture for your team - Drive engineering design decisions and take accountability for critical technical choices - Understand and prioritize the product feature roadmap while systematically reducing technical debt - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and QA professionals - Communicate team progress effectively to leadership and stakeholders - Partner with the Support team to track, triage, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner - Work alongside Talent Acquisition to source, interview, and hire the right engineering talent - Continuously improve team productivity through investments in tools, technology, and delivery processes - Own team morale, remove blockers, and support engineers through critical project phases - Manage careers of team members through regular feedback, performance reviews, and recognition Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience - Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering - At least 3 years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams - At least 6 years of hands-on object-oriented software development experience as an individual contributor - Experience working in a commercial software product development environment - Proficiency across multiple programming languages with the ability to adapt to new technologies - Demonstrated experience building large-scale, high-performance software services - Strong verbal and written communication skills Why Join Us At Freshworks, you will be part of a people-first, innovation-driven culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion across all backgrounds and experiences.
