Design Lead – Solar (Civil / Structural)

Key Responsibilities The Design Lead will be responsible for the timely preparation and delivery of all engineering drawings and documents in strict alignment with project schedules. The role involves reviewing design outputs from junior engineers and draughtspersons, verifying structural and civil sizing calculations, and securing client approvals on engineering submissions. The incumbent will evaluate vendor deliverables against technical specifications, carry out pre-award vendor assessments, and coordinate with the Supply Chain Management team for validation. Active collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams — including Electrical DC, AC, and Instrumentation — is essential to ensure inter-departmental alignment and design coherence. The Design Lead will also gather project inputs such as soil reports, boundary coordinates, and topographic survey data from clients and section heads, and will provide technical clarifications to the site execution team throughout project delivery. Additional responsibilities include preparing BOQ reviews for the contracts team, estimating man-hour requirements, and producing key design deliverables such as module mounting structure designs, general arrangement drawings, control room and inverter room drawings, and overall solar plant civil infrastructure documentation. Required Qualifications A background in civil and structural engineering with proven Solar PV Power Plant experience will be central to success in this role. Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, REVIT, Civil 3D, SolidWorks, Global Mapper, Google Earth, and BIM Modelling platforms is highly valued. Strong coordination, multitasking, and technical communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables under project timelines. B.E. / B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering 7 to 10 years of experience with a focus on Solar PV Power Plant or Power Distribution Project design Hands-on experience producing engineering drawings and civil/structural design documents Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, REVIT, Civil 3D, SolidWorks, BIM Modelling, Global Mapper, and Google Earth Ability to review and validate vendor technical submissions and coordinate with Supply Chain Management Experience preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) Capability to estimate, plan, and manage man-hour requirements across design phases Strong cross-functional coordination skills across civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines Ability to gather and interpret project inputs such as soil reports, topo surveys, and boundary coordinates Comfort providing real-time design support and clarifications to site execution teams Preference given to women professionals currently on or recently returning from a career break
