Data Scientist

Role Overview HP is hiring an experienced Data Scientist to join its Engineering and Information Technology division in Chennai. In this mid-senior role, you will work with complex, large-scale datasets to surface actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions and enhance organizational performance. You will design and implement data pipelines, predictive models, and automated processes that transform diverse, unstructured big data sources into measurable business value. Key Responsibilities - Mine and analyze large datasets using modern programming languages and statistical tools to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities - Build predictive and prescriptive models of moderate to high complexity and track their performance against defined success metrics - Collaborate with data engineering teams across multiple business lines to develop robust data pipelines and improve data quality and metrics - Create compelling data visualizations and clear communication materials to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Lead and mentor a team of data science professionals, providing guidance and training to junior staff - Represent the data science function across all phases of large, complex development projects - Continuously evaluate and refine existing methodologies by exploring new data sources, validating model assumptions, and optimizing model parameters - Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and trends within the data science domain Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline - 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in data analytics, statistical modeling, or machine learning, or an advanced degree with 4 to 7 years of relevant experience - Strong proficiency in Python, R, and SQL - Working knowledge of machine learning frameworks, deep learning, NLP, and predictive modeling techniques - Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark and cloud platforms such as AWS - Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to diverse audiences - Certification in SQL, Python, or a related programming language is preferred Why Join Us HP offers a dynamic and innovation-driven environment where your data expertise will directly influence business strategy across global teams.
