Role Overview HP is looking for a skilled and analytical Data Scientist to join its Engineering and Information Technology team in Chennai. In this mid-senior role, you will be responsible for transforming complex, large-scale datasets into actionable business insights using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. You will work at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, and predictive analytics to drive meaningful outcomes across multiple business lines. Key Responsibilities - Oversee data mining operations using modern tools and programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL - Build and deploy predictive and prescriptive models of moderate to high complexity to generate business value - Collaborate with data engineering teams to develop robust data pipelines and improve data quality, metrics, and assets - Design visualizations and clear data narratives to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Lead a team of data science professionals, offering mentoring, training, and strategic guidance - Identify opportunities to refine existing methodologies through new data sources, model testing, and parameter tuning - Represent the data science function across all phases of large-scale development projects - Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the data science domain Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or a related field - 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in data analytics, statistical modeling, or machine learning (or 4 to 7 years with an advanced degree) - Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and big data technologies such as Apache Spark - Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services - Strong knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and predictive modeling - Familiarity with data visualization tools including Power BI - Excellent communication, results orientation, and customer-centric mindset - Preferred: certification in a relevant programming language such as Python or SQL Why Join Us HP offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment where your data-driven insights directly influence product and business strategy at a global scale.
