Assistant Manager - Supply Chain Management

Role Overview WIDIA, a brand under Kennametal Inc., a global industrial technology leader with over 80 years of expertise in materials science and tooling solutions, is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager in Supply Chain Management to join their Bengaluru team. This role demands a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of manufacturing supply chains, vendor development, and strategic sourcing. The ideal candidate will drive procurement excellence while managing a high-performing team in a dynamic MNC environment. Key Responsibilities - Lead supplier onboarding processes including thorough due diligence and performance evaluation - Drive RFQ processes and lead commercial negotiations with domestic and global suppliers - Manage cost control initiatives and ensure on-time delivery of castings, forgings, fabricated parts, and machined components - Oversee vendor development processes and ensure compliance requirements in sourcing are met - Handle inventory management, procurement operations, and subcontracting audit activities - Leverage SAP MM modules for sourcing and procurement activities - Motivate, mentor, and develop team members while managing day-to-day people operations - Analyse supply chain data to support sound business decision-making Required Qualifications - Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering; postgraduate degree or diploma in Materials Management preferred - 8 to 12 years of experience in manufacturing supply chain roles within reputed companies or MNCs - Strong domain knowledge of foundry processes including pattern making, casting pouring, and heat treatment - Good understanding of heavy fabrication, precision machining, and associated tolerances - Proficiency in SAP MM modules; exposure to SAP HANA is an added advantage - Global sourcing knowledge and experience handling supplier audits - Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and local languages Why Join Us Kennametal and WIDIA offer a truly global work environment where innovation and precision engineering are at the core of everything they do. - Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with PG degree or diploma in Materials Management preferred - 8 to 12 years of manufacturing SCM experience in reputed companies or MNCs - Expertise in supplier onboarding, RFQ, and commercial negotiations - Sourcing experience in castings, forgings, fabricated parts, and machined components - Strong understanding of foundry processes, heavy fabrication, and precision machining - Proficiency in SAP MM modules; SAP HANA exposure preferred - Experience managing inventory, procurement, and subcontracting audits - Knowledge of global sourcing practices and compliance requirements - Strong data analysis and decision-making skills - Excellent communication skills in English and local language - Prior people management experience
