Software Engineer - Established Engineer III (Mainframe)

Role Overview TekWissen India is hiring a skilled Software Engineer (Established Engineer III) for a leading global client based in Chennai. This is a hybrid contract role requiring 4 days per week from the office. The position is part of a dynamic engineering team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise-grade software applications across the full software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities - Engage directly with customers to understand use-cases, pain points, and requirements, and advocate for user-centric software solutions - Design and develop complex software solutions using various tools, languages, frameworks, and agile methodologies - Assess application requirements and determine the most suitable technology stack, integration approach, and deployment strategy - Create high-level software architecture designs covering overall structure, components, and application interfaces - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, designers, and architects - Define and implement software testing strategies, guidelines, and quality processes aligned with industry best practices - Continuously improve application performance and optimize systems for maximum development efficiency - Apply practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery - Support security practices including data encryption and anonymization to safeguard user information - Develop and maintain back-end applications including APIs and microservices using server-side languages - Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies to enhance existing solutions Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - Minimum 6 years of overall IT experience with 6 or more years in active software development - Proficiency in at least 2 programming languages or advanced proficiency in 1 language - Hands-on experience with Mainframe Systems and Mainframe databases - Preferred skills include DB2, COBOL, and JCL Why Join Us TekWissen is a globally recognised workforce solutions provider offering opportunities to work with world-class clients on cutting-edge engineering challenges. - 6 or more years of experience in IT and software development - Proficiency in Mainframe Systems and Mainframe DB - Knowledge of DB2, COBOL, and JCL preferred - Experience with agile methodologies and full software development lifecycle - Familiarity with test-driven development, CI/CD practices - Ability to design software architecture and develop APIs or microservices - Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills - Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline
