Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview Walmart Global Tech India is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its collaborative engineering division in Chennai. This mid-senior level full-time role demands a strong foundation in software development, AI/ML integration, and DevOps practices. You will own end-to-end feature delivery and contribute to scalable, high-performance systems that serve millions of customers globally. Key Responsibilities - Own scoped feature and model delivery across collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and ongoing support for services, APIs, user interfaces, and ML components - Write clean, efficient, and reliable code in languages including JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++ - Drive the full software development lifecycle including CI/CD deployments, automated testing, observability, monitoring, and maintenance - Integrate AI agents and ML components via internal and external APIs, and leverage GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot to boost development velocity - Assist in converting high-level designs into detailed designs using mock screens, pseudo code, and functional logic, and evaluate architectural trade-offs - Engage stakeholders to identify complex business and user problems, translate them into actionable technical requirements, and define success metrics - Monitor application performance, ensure milestone adherence through CI/CD and logging tools, and support continuous integration practices - Mentor peers, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to knowledge sharing and platform improvement initiatives Required Qualifications - Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years of software engineering experience - Option 2: Minimum 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience without a formal degree requirement - Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, or C++ - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and software observability tools - Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and documentation-based coding practices - Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or Cybersecurity with experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects - Preferred: Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and assistive technologies - Preferred: CISCO certification or equivalent industry credential Why Join Us Walmart Global Tech India offers a culture of belonging, continuous learning, and engineering excellence where your contributions directly impact one of the world's largest retail ecosystems.
