Senior Engineer - IT (Security Operations)

Role Overview Guardian Life is looking for a Senior IT Engineer to join its Security Operations Centre team in Chennai. In this mid-senior role, you will provide tier-two operational support and lead team efforts in resolving incidents and outages across information security technologies on Public and Private Cloud environments. You will play a critical part in safeguarding Guardian's technology platforms, customer data, and infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities - Lead incident and outage resolution efforts for information security technologies including SIEM (Splunk), Endpoint Security, Malware Analysis, DLP, and Cloud Network Security - Ensure team adherence to standard operating procedures, conduct recurring assessments of SOC workflows, and drive continuous process improvement and automation - Execute daily security technology administration, perform Root Cause Analysis on applicable technology, and validate the quality of dashboards and alerts - Partner with cross-functional technology teams to handle internal customer issues, conduct problem analysis, and ensure timely remediation of security incidents - Follow ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management, and stay current with emerging cyber threats and regulatory requirements - Lead, mentor, and train team members while supporting various technology projects and operational security initiatives Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience in building and operating security controls across domains such as Network/Perimeter Security, Endpoint Security, DLP, or Identity and Access Management - Strong hands-on experience with SIEM management including configuring, tuning, and optimising Splunk for maximum efficiency - Deep understanding of endpoint security solutions including antivirus, anti-malware, and intrusion prevention systems - Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems from a security architecture and troubleshooting perspective - Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH, along with a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field - Strong leadership, analytical, and documentation skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team Why Join Us Guardian Life offers a dynamic environment where you can grow your cybersecurity career while working with cutting-edge technologies and a team committed to protecting customer data at scale.
