Senior Engineer - IT (Security Operations)

Role Overview Guardian Life is seeking an experienced Senior IT Engineer to join its Security Operations team in Chennai. This mid-senior level, full-time role focuses on delivering tier-two operational support for information security technologies across Public and Private Cloud environments. You will lead team efforts in incident resolution, continuous process improvement, and daily security administration to protect Guardian's infrastructure and customer data from evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities - Provide tier-two support for security technology incidents and outages across cloud environments, shared platforms, and operating systems - Lead team adherence to standard operating procedures, training, performance monitoring, and automation-driven process improvements - Conduct recurring assessments of SOC workflows to identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities - Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on security technologies and validate the quality of dashboards and alerts - Manage and optimise SIEM systems (Splunk), including configuration, tuning, and performance enhancement - Handle endpoint security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), malware analysis, and software-defined network security - Collaborate with network engineers, system administrators, and application developers to ensure end-to-end security - Monitor emerging cyber threats, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements to strengthen the organisation's security posture - Follow ITIL practices for incident, problem, change, and risk management - Support security technology projects and operational initiatives led by the Security Operations team Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience building and operating security controls in at least two domains such as network perimeter security, endpoint security, DLP, or identity and access management - Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (preferably Splunk), endpoint protection tools, and security incident handling - Strong understanding of security architecture and troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems - Experience implementing DLP solutions and conducting threat intelligence analysis - Team leadership skills with experience in hiring, training, and mentoring SOC team members - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field - Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH - Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure Why Join Us Guardian Life offers a collaborative and growth-oriented environment where cybersecurity professionals can develop their expertise while protecting a trusted organisation's global infrastructure. - 3 to 5 years of experience in security operations or a related cybersecurity domain - Proficiency with SIEM tools, especially Splunk - Experience with endpoint security, antivirus, and anti-malware solutions - Knowledge of network and perimeter security including next-gen firewalls, IPS, proxies, and WAFs - Hands-on experience with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) implementation and management - Familiarity with Identity and Access Management and User Behaviour Analytics - Understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems - Experience with security incident handling and Root Cause Analysis - Knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline - Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH preferred - Familiarity with security standards such as NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, HIPAA, OWASP, or HITRUST is a plus - Recognised cloud IaaS certifications are an added advantage
