SAP ABAP Developer

Role Overview Tata Consultancy Services is actively hiring experienced SAP ABAP Developers to join its growing technical team in Chennai. This is an excellent opportunity for mid to senior level SAP professionals with 4 to 12 years of hands-on ABAP development experience to work on cutting-edge SAP ECC and S4 HANA environments. The role demands strong technical expertise, the ability to independently manage complex development tasks, and the confidence to lead and mentor a junior team. Key Responsibilities - Assist functional consultants across SAP modules with debugging, issue resolution, and technical fixes - Analyse existing ABAP programs and function modules to ensure alignment with updated business change requirements - Deliver coding, unit testing, documentation, and ongoing maintenance for SAP customisation projects - Log SAP requests and support the implementation of SAP notes following standard procedures - Build RFC connections, establish proxy configurations, and develop IDOCs for third-party system integration with SAP - Design and develop Smart Forms from scratch based on business specifications - Independently architect and deliver complex technical objects aligned to functional specifications - Lead and guide a team of 7 to 8 junior ABAP developers in day-to-day technical activities - Develop and maintain data dictionary objects including Z-Tables, search helps, and structures - Provide effort estimations based on functional specifications and engage directly with clients Required Qualifications - 4 to 12 years of proven SAP ABAP development experience - Hands-on experience with SAP ECC or SAP S4 HANA environments - Strong knowledge of standard TCODEs relevant to SAP ECC and S4 HANA - Prior experience on at least one full SAP implementation project or multiple support projects - Demonstrated ability to lead a junior technical team and manage delivery independently - Excellent client communication skills and the ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions Why Join Us TCS is one of India's most respected global IT services leaders, offering unmatched career growth, learning opportunities, and a collaborative work culture.
