Role Overview Apaxis Hospitals is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Operation Theatre Scrub Nurse to join its surgical care team in Chennai. Key Responsibilities The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre environment prior to each surgical procedure, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterilized and correctly arranged. The nurse will actively assist surgeons and the broader surgical team during operations by passing instruments and materials with precision. Strict aseptic and sterile techniques must be upheld throughout all procedures. Responsibilities also include conducting pre- and post-surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and needles, and ensuring all required items are available before procedures commence. The role involves preparing patients for surgery, aiding in correct patient positioning, and handling surgical specimens for laboratory submission. The nurse will coordinate effectively with surgeons, anesthetists, and OT technicians during routine and emergency procedures. Additional duties include managing biomedical waste disposal as per hospital protocols, maintaining accurate OT records and instrument count documentation, reporting equipment faults or supply shortages without delay, and participating in stock management and OT inventory control. Adherence to NABH standards and hospital infection control policies is mandatory. The candidate will also assist in safely transferring post-operative patients to the recovery room or ICU, and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and emergency drills. Required Qualifications A graduate-level nursing qualification is required. Demonstrated experience in operation theatre settings with sound knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterile field management, and surgical instrument handling is essential.
