Job Description

Role Overview American Express is looking for a seasoned Manager in Technical Project Management to join the Enterprise Technology Services team in Chennai. In this role, you will drive the strategic planning and execution of complex technology projects, working cross-functionally to align delivery with business goals. You will lead Agile Release Trains, mentor delivery teams, and champion a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation. Key Responsibilities - Manage end-to-end strategic planning, coordination, and execution of technology projects aligned with organisational objectives - Lead Agile Release Trains (ARTs), coordinating with product owners, agile champions, and development teams to ensure timely milestone delivery - Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions and technical alignment discussions with leadership and product management teams - Develop and maintain comprehensive risk management plans, conduct regular risk assessments, and deploy mitigation strategies - Analyse portfolio, Release Train, and team-level metrics to derive strategic insights on delivery performance - Champion Inspect and Adapt sessions and retrospective meetings to foster a culture of continuous learning - Oversee project documentation including requirements, specifications, and progress reports in project management tools - Mentor and coach Technology Delivery colleagues, supporting professional development and best practices - Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and budgets in line with organisational goals - Collaborate with senior leadership on talent acquisition, retention strategies, and team development Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred - Strong knowledge of Agile, SAFe, and Lean methodologies - Solid understanding of systems design, technical challenges, and full product development lifecycle including Test Driven Development - Proven experience in program delivery or project management within a technology environment - Experience leading cross-functional project teams with a track record of successful delivery - Proficiency in project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms - Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills - Experience writing technical documentation and specifications Why Join Us American Express offers a globally respected brand with a 175-year legacy of innovation, a comprehensive benefits package, and meaningful opportunities for career growth and leadership development. Requirements

- Agile, SAFe, and Lean methodology expertise - Experience leading Agile Release Trains and PI Planning - Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management tools - Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills - Knowledge of systems design and full software development lifecycle - Experience with risk management and mitigation planning - Ability to manage multiple high-complexity projects simultaneously - Technical documentation and writing skills - Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, IT, or Engineering) - Experience mentoring and coaching technology delivery teams
