Mainframe Support Engineer

Role Overview Tata Consultancy Services is hiring an experienced Mainframe Support Engineer to join its team across pan India locations. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in mainframe development and production support, with a proven ability to manage complex batch processing and database operations in enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities - Develop, debug, and optimise COBOL programs to meet business and technical requirements - Create, manage, and troubleshoot batch jobs using JCL (Job Control Language) - Write and optimise SQL queries for DB2 relational databases including performance tuning activities - Work with IMS DB and DL/I hierarchical database structures for data access and management - Provide ongoing production support for mainframe applications and resolve incidents in a timely manner - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability and continuous improvement Required Qualifications - 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in mainframe development or production support - Strong proficiency in COBOL programming including writing and debugging complex programs - Solid understanding of JCL for batch job creation and management - Working knowledge of DB2 including relational database concepts and query optimisation - Experience with IMS DB and DL/I hierarchical database structures and data access methods - Ability to work across pan India locations as required Why Join Us TCS is one of India's most prestigious IT services companies offering unmatched career growth opportunities and exposure to global-scale enterprise projects.
