IT Support Engineer

Job Title: IT Support Specialist Location: IIT Kanpur Job Type: [Full-time] Department: IT Reports To: IT Manager / IT Lead Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to provide technical assistance across the organization. This role is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting users, and maintaining the overall health of IT systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide first- and second-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system issues across various platforms (Windows, MacOS, Office 365, etc.). Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other peripherals. Support internal systems including email, VPN, collaboration tools, and remote access solutions. Maintain IT inventory, documentation, and asset tracking. Assist with onboarding and off boarding of employees (e.g., setting up user accounts, provisioning devices). Escalate complex technical problems to appropriate teams and follow through to resolution. Ensure timely response to support tickets in line with SLAs. Participate in periodic system updates, backups, and routine maintenance. Support cybersecurity best practices and data protection protocols.

Requirements:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 1–3 years of

experience

in IT support or help desk role. Strong knowledge of Windows/Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office, and Active Directory. Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic troubleshooting. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.

Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional).

Experience

with ticketing systems like Zendesk, ServiceNow, or Jira. Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Workspace). Basic scripting or automation knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, etc.). Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
