Functional Designer

Role Overview Embark on a transformative journey as a Functional Designer at Barclays in Pune, where you will spearhead the evolution of our digital payments landscape. Working with our Global Payment Services team, you will focus on building in-house UK Faster Payments processing capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to design next-generation payment systems. Key Responsibilities - Manage the delivery, resource allocation, and improvement of complex technical project capabilities using Agile. - Collaborate with customers and business teams to evaluate and implement technically feasible solutions. - Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and QA teams throughout the software lifecycle. - Map SWIFT MT message formats to ISO20022 MX equivalents and vice-versa. - Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with technical payment projects to protect bank systems. - Maintain requirement traceability using Jira and verify mapping payloads during testing phases. - Interact directly with payment channels, requirement teams, and product owners to define systems. Required Qualifications - Payment domain background with knowledge of SWIFT MT and ISO20022 messaging standards. - Strong understanding of payment schemes in the UK, EU, and US along with routing mechanisms. - Experience using Jira for requirement traceability and managing project workflows. - Technical awareness of APIs, message queues, Kafka, mapping tools, Unix, and SQL. - High capability in complex analysis, risk identification, and strategic problem-solving.
