Job Description

Role Overview Optum is seeking a driven Assistant Manager for our IPDRG coding team in Chennai to improve global healthcare outcomes. In this role, you will lead a talented team of medical coders, ensuring high-quality performance, compliance, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities - Maintain deep knowledge of medical coding, billing requirements, and regulatory changes - Manage overall team performance, productivity, quality metrics, turnaround times, and attendance - Lead and support quality initiatives targeted towards continuous process improvements - Actively support internal audits and ensure all compliance parameters are fully met - Manage relationship, communication, and interaction with internal and external stakeholders - Provide direction, set priorities, and establish a working environment conducive to teamwork - Implement operational plans, operating budgets, and retention strategies to manage attrition - Offer regular performance feedback, coaching, and career guidance to team members Required Qualifications - Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Allied Medicine, Pharmacy, or Nursing - Active certified coder credential from AAPC or AHIMA such as CCS, CPC, CPC-H, or CCS-P - Minimum of 8 years of medical coding experience with at least 2 years in a Team Lead role - Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology - Proven analytical, communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills - Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and billing workflow processes Why Join Us At Optum, you will be part of a global healthcare leader committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Requirements

- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Allied Medicine, Pharmacy, or Nursing - Active AAPC or AHIMA coding certification such as CCS, CPC, CPC-H, or CCS-P - Over 8 years of medical coding experience, including 2+ years as a Team Lead - Expert knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare reimbursement - Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills
