AI Engineer - Agentic AI and Advanced Capabilities (AVP)

Role Overview NatWest Group is hiring an AI Engineer specialising in Agentic AI and Advanced Capabilities at the Associate Vice President level. This is a full-time opportunity for a seasoned software engineer to work within a high-performing feature team, building secure, scalable, and customer-centric AI solutions. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and business analysts across the platform while taking full ownership of the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities - Design, engineer, and maintain high-performance, production-ready AI and GenAI solutions using large language models and agentic frameworks - Develop intelligent autonomous agents with advanced reasoning, planning, and tool-use capabilities integrated with enterprise APIs - Implement, optimise, and scale RAG pipelines using vector databases for accurate and context-aware outputs - Fine-tune LLMs and apply advanced prompt engineering to achieve domain-specific performance improvements - Define robust evaluation frameworks to measure model accuracy, latency, reliability, and hallucination rates - Produce complex, high-quality software rapidly while contributing to the full lifecycle from development and enhancement through to decommissioning - Apply modern DevOps, Responsible AI principles, and Agile engineering practices to deliver scalable AI systems Required Qualifications - Minimum 9 years of experience as a PySpark and AI Engineer with a focus on Agentic AI and advanced AI capabilities - Hands-on experience designing and building end-to-end AI and GenAI solutions using LLMs and agentic frameworks - Proficiency in developing intelligent agents with reasoning, planning, and seamless enterprise API integration - Strong experience with RAG pipeline development and vector database technologies - Familiarity with development and testing tools, bug tracking systems, and technical wikis - Experience across multiple programming languages or low-code toolsets - Solid background in DevOps, Agile methodology, and associated toolsets - Proven ability to solve highly complex analytical and numerical problems - Knowledge of programming best practices around scalability, automation, virtualisation, and performance optimisation Why Join Us NatWest Group offers a collaborative and innovative environment where you can sharpen your technical expertise while making a meaningful impact on enterprise-scale AI solutions.
