Accountant

Role Overview Papaya Global is looking for an experienced Accountant in Bengaluru to own the full accounting cycle through trial balance for our India entity. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with Indian regulatory and statutory requirements while safeguarding financial record accuracy. Key Responsibilities - Own full-cycle bookkeeping through trial balance to ensure an accurate and audit-ready general ledger. - Post journal entries and perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany balances. - Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable including invoice intake, GL coding, three-way matching, and payment runs. - Prepare and file monthly and quarterly statutory returns such as GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and Professional Tax. - Drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes in alignment with group reporting timelines. - Administer global employee expense reimbursements and ensure compliance with internal policy and tax treatments. - Manage local India vendor onboarding, MSME applicability, purchase orders, and reconciliations. - Liaise with Indian tax authorities and external consultants for audits, notices, and statutory submissions. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce (B.Com/M.Com); Inter CA or CMA is preferred. - Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in full-cycle bookkeeping and Indian statutory compliance. - Proven hands-on proficiency in NetSuite ERP and advanced Excel skills. - Demonstrated experience applying AI tools in accounting operations for AP, AR, and reconciliations. - Strong written and verbal English communication skills for collaborating with global teams. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce (B.Com or M.Com) - Inter CA or CMA professional qualification is preferred - Minimum of five years of experience in managing full-cycle bookkeeping through trial balance - Direct experience handling Indian statutory compliance including GST, TDS, PF, and ESI - Hands-on proficiency in NetSuite and advanced Microsoft Excel skills - Experience utilizing AI tools in accounting operations for AP and AR processing - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
