Sr Engineering Manager

Role Overview Target is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for the Container Controlplane team to lead the delivery of Managed Containers capabilities. Based in Bengaluru, you will co-lead the platform function with your US counterpart and manage a growing team of engineers in Target India. Your leadership will directly influence how application teams deploy and manage containerized workloads across Target's global retail infrastructure. Key Responsibilities - Lead, coach, and develop a growing engineering team responsible for container control plane capabilities. - Own the deployment pipeline and orchestration services used to deploy container workloads across on-prem, GCP, and store locations. - Deliver high-quality backend platform APIs that provide a consistent, self-service developer experience. - Maintain and improve the workload placement engine, service health mechanisms, and security access controls. - Co-own the technical roadmap and architectural direction, driving availability zone adoption. - Ensure service reliability and operational health through robust incident response and maturity practices. - Partner with cross-functional infrastructure, networking, and security teams to align dependencies. Required Qualifications - 6+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or distributed systems experience. - 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including delivery and talent management. - Strong working knowledge of platform APIs, orchestration workflows, and deployment systems. - Experience building and operating customer-facing platform capabilities at scale. - Practical experience with Kubernetes or adjacent container orchestration platforms. - Proficiency with backend development languages such as Java, Groovy, or Golang.
