Senior Software Engineer Trust

Role Overview Airbnb is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Trust Engineering team based in Bengaluru. This team is at the heart of protecting millions of hosts and guests from both online and offline fraud, ensuring the platform remains the most safe and trusted community in the world. You will be a key contributor in building scalable, resilient systems that combat evolving fraud vectors and enhance trust across every user interaction on the platform. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain resilient and highly scalable distributed systems and data pipelines - Build robust data pipelines using SparkSQL and Scala with Airflow as the scheduler and executor framework - Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and operations teams to identify opportunities for business impact and prioritize engineering requirements - Prototype, develop, productionise, and test solutions to address existing and emerging fraud trends - Mentor fellow engineers to help grow their technical expertise and collaborative skills - Drive and advocate for improvements in Airbnb engineering processes and technical foundations Required Qualifications - Minimum 6 years of relevant software engineering industry experience - Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent technical discipline - Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Ruby, along with SQL query authoring skills - Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed data platforms such as Spark, Kafka, Flink, or HBase - Working knowledge of ETL schedulers including Apache Airflow, Luigi, Oozie, AWS Glue, or similar tools - Strong analytical ability to interpret large datasets, identify gaps, and derive actionable product insights - Prior experience in the Trust and Risk domain is a significant advantage Why Join Us At Airbnb, you will work on challenging and meaningful problems that directly impact the safety and trust of a global community spanning nearly every country in the world. - 6 or more years of software engineering experience - Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field - Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Ruby - Strong SQL and data querying skills - Experience with distributed data platforms like Spark, Kafka, Flink, or HBase - Familiarity with ETL schedulers such as Apache Airflow, Oozie, or AWS Glue - Ability to analyse large datasets and derive product insights - Experience in Trust and Risk domain is a plus
