Senior Knowledge Engineer

Role Overview S&P Global is looking for a Senior Knowledge Engineer to join its Knowledge Engineering Team in Bengaluru. This role is a key part of the company's strategic shift from a conventional data organisation to a next-generation interconnected data intelligence platform. You will work closely with data and software engineering teams to design and build modern data architecture powered by semantic technologies. Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and continuously improve ontologies, taxonomies, knowledge graphs, and semantic artefacts to support interconnected data and asset discovery - Provide thought leadership on strategic projects, ensuring timelines are realistic and deliverables are met on schedule - Shape the strategic semantic vision and contribute to the next-generation data architecture roadmap - Create linked metadata schemes to align and harmonise semantics across multiple systems and domains - Implement knowledge organisation strategies using tools for metadata management, ontology management, and semantic enrichment - Participate in governance forums to advocate for the adoption of established semantic standards and knowledge-based tools Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with taxonomy and ontology development and semantic web technologies including RDF, RDFS, and OWL - Familiarity with open-source or commercial semantic tools such as VocBench, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, RDFLib, or triple stores - At least 2 years of experience in advanced data integration using semantic and knowledge graph technologies in complex enterprise environments - Proficiency in a mainstream programming language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript - Working knowledge of agile development practices and data management disciplines including data governance, data quality, and metadata management - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is an added advantage - Advanced degree in computer science, knowledge engineering, information sciences, or a related field preferred Why Join Us At S&P Global, you will be part of a global team of over 35,000 professionals working on high-visibility initiatives that shape financial markets and data intelligence worldwide. - 3+ years of experience in taxonomy and ontology development - Proficiency in semantic web technologies including RDF, RDFS, and OWL - Experience with semantic tools such as VocBench, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, or RDFLib - 2+ years of experience in data integration with knowledge graph technologies - Programming skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript - Understanding of agile development lifecycle and data governance practices - Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure - Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
