Senior AI/ML Engineer

Role Overview Optum is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead GenAI innovation and technology acceleration at our Chennai technology center. In this role, you will design and implement agentic AI solutions, conversational agents, and RAG-based architectures using Python and cloud-native frameworks. Key Responsibilities - Lead the exploration and development of emerging GenAI, Agentic AI, and conversational systems. - Build rapid prototypes and reference implementations using LangChain, LangGraph, and CrewAI. - Design and implement RAG-based architectures with vector databases and semantic search. - Develop and deploy scalable, cloud-native AI microservices on Azure. - Implement evaluation frameworks, safety guardrails, and prompt versioning for LLM reliability. - Optimize AI performance, including token usage, context window management, and response latency. - Mentor engineers and establish DevOps, MLOps, and LLMOps best practices. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. - Eight or more years of experience in software, AI/ML, or platform engineering. - Hands-on experience building Agentic AI, vector databases, and RAG pipelines in production. - Solid proficiency in Python and cloud-native development on Azure. - Experience with containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
