Remote Python Engineer with FastAPI Expertise

Role Overview Turing is a globally recognised AI research accelerator headquartered in San Francisco, California, partnering with frontier AI labs and enterprises to build and deploy advanced AI systems. We are looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an innovative Reinforcement Learning Gym project. In this role, you will develop and maintain scalable backend services that support RL experiments, simulations, and research workflows. Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain FastAPI-based services tailored for experimentation workflows and simulation environments - Work closely with machine learning engineers to expose APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking tasks - Write clean, efficient, and production-ready Python code with a focus on scalability and long-term maintainability - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise pipelines, and support smooth deployment of backend applications - Participate in code reviews and uphold software engineering best practices across the project lifecycle Required Qualifications - Minimum 4 years of hands-on Python development experience with at least 3 years of dedicated FastAPI expertise - Proven understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and end-to-end API lifecycle management - Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals including testing, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and design patterns - Familiarity with data science libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow is an added advantage - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, Stable Baselines, or custom RL setups is a plus - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline Why Join Us Turing offers a fully remote freelance engagement where you get to work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top researchers and engineers from leading LLM companies worldwide.
